VOLUNTEER - KEY TO THE FUTURE

European Youth Congress April 06, 2011

From the 10th till the 13th of March, over 50 young people from all over Europe gathered for the European Youth Congress "Volunteer - Key to the Future"
Throughout the intensive programme the participants could share their opinions on challenges they are facing in their work as volunteers.  The programme first focussed on getting a clear definition of which those challenges are exactly.  We hoped that the participants could share these challenges with policy makers we invited.  Unfortunately all policy makers cancelled their participation.

In order to see how the participants could learn from each other on how to tackle the changes, we first needed them to get to know each other's voluntary work a bit better.  Therefore we did a huge interactive poster exhibition; a method which really proved it's use as in 1 hour time a real buzz was going round.

On the Saturday the participants mainly worked on starting up cooperations.  In the morning there was a workshop geared by learning space dynamics.  The participants could learn what they wanted, when they wanted.  In the afternoon the participants developed tools together which can help facilitating the work they are doing on local level.

Under the motto "All work and no play make volunteers dull boys and girls" the whole group went out on the saturday night ... discovering the Krakow nightlive.

On sunday the only thing what rested was evaluation and saying goodbye (and see you later).  This might be the end of a great youth congress, however the project goes on ...
